Didn't the Halifax group (un)officially disband? Either way, looks like it's a lost cause. May be better off with a team in Quebec at this point.

I don't think time is the missing ingredient.

Now moving focus to Touchdown Alaska?DavedaHammer wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 3:28 amI think the CFL is giving Halifax group time to get their finances and stadium logistics in order. But, I think Halifax is a lost cause and should to move on. There seems to be no will in getting a stadium done in Halifax and the Mayor of the city saying it's content with minor league soccer and Junior Hockey instead of CFL

Well shoot... guess you gotta balance the conferences first.
THEN we'll focus on Alaska.

Alaska doesn't even have a good quality college program and stadium. Geez, the NFL wouldn't even give them a thought while they sitting on all that Oil money to make it happen. At least, Hawaii did something

Re: CFL 2023 schedule already out
Anybody knows anything on Genius Sport brokering a US TV deal for the CFL yet. The XFL got a better exposure deal in their deal with ESPN, a lot better deal than they had with the CFL, with all CFL games buried under ESPN+.
The CFL released it's schedule that is TV friendly. it should help Genius Sport to broker a deal much easier now that it has a stake in the CFL. Other sports got new Media deals like MLS and the NFL. It's now the new year, there should be some news or rumors by now

I've heard ESPN will re-up for another 2 years to coincide with the TSN contract. I think the TV friendly schedule is a push by TSN for an almost 40% drop in ratings in the past decade. Something needs to stop the free fall.DavedaHammer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 9:52 pm Anybody knows anything on Genius Sport brokering a US TV deal for the CFL yet. Re: CFL 2023 schedule already out
The CFL would be stupid to go back with ESPN and Genius Sport would be grossly negligent to allow that to happen. Take the US TV rights to another network like CBS, NBC, TBS, NFL Network or Netflix, Twitch, anybody but ESPN. The US TV deal has to be separate from the TSN deal. It's insane that ESPN only paid $200,000 annually for hiding the CFL behind a paywall and non promotion of the league by the so-called "Leader In Sport"laxtreme56 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 4:25 pmI've heard ESPN will re-up for another 2 years to coincide with the TSN contract. ESPN will pay somewhere between $600k-800k per season to retain the status quo. Netflix has already said no to live sports, NBC and CBS aren't putting the CFL on their main network and would scuttle the games behind a paywall, no different than ESPN+. NFL Network already offered the CFL a deal and the league walked away, doubt they'll give them a second chance unless the play primarily in spring and summer. TBS already paid too much for the NHL and NBA rights so doubt they have much cash left over, though I could see some CFL games on Tru TV or BR Live which would also be a downgrade from the ESPN family of networks. Maybe Genius can get the games on a gambling app like Fanduel or Draft Kings.DavedaHammer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 5:59 amThe CFL would be stupid to go back with ESPN and Genius Sport would be grossly negligent to allow that to happen.
