The Fords won't rent out their Field to a competing football league like the CFL(the NFL won't allow them to), but you could play in Tom Adams Stadium at Wayne State University. It's field is inside an oval track. You can fit a CFL field inside an oval track. TAS is an older facility, but has Field Turf. The locker room were renovated and expanded. It houses just over 6800, but it be increased to 16000 with temporary seating. The recent Touchdown Atlantic in Wolfville, NS only had 10000 to 12000 capacity. So it's doable. The limited seating capacity would create demand for tickets at TAS for a CFL gameTank55 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 12:07 pm Would a CFL field fit into Ford Field? I imagine not, but that makes this immediately feasible. Quick search suggests it might be wide enough but not long enough.
Getting to an even number makes sense, but I don’t see how further expansion in Canada is going to grow shared revenue enough to justify the additional slices to the pie.

Re: CFL Expansion
Why would the XFL be able to use the Seahawks stadium but the CFL not be able to use the Lions stadium? The CFL isn’t actually competition for the NFL.

The Seahawks don't own Lumon Field. It is owned by the the Washington State Sports Commission/Authority. The CFL is a competing entity against the NFL, no matter how big they are.

The NFL and CFL are not competitors. To say that they are rivals is laughable and stupid.

Re: CFL Expansion
I do agree about the expanded roster size/camp size as a blunt to other leagues - UFL I think nudged NFL to a 90 man off season roster - sucking up another 300 players from that alt league.DavedaHammer wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 4:21 amDavedaHammer wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 4:12 amThe CFL is the second largest football league in the world. The 2020 PS going to 16 from 10 was a reaction to AAF/XFL etc... and the move to 17 games as players go down from injury ( NFL nor NFL PA cares about injury, at least not more than $$$).
BUT does this help or hurt Alt leagues in the end? Short-term hurt but long term? What it does do is give the Alt leagues - esp off season leagues - is players with "NFL experience". As new players enter graduate college - more players with camp/PS experience become avail. Whether that's active roster, PS or camp. And that helps the credibility and play of these non-NFL leagues. NFL does the heavy lifting ie scouting and training and the other leagues can focus on the best of the these. The NFL benefits too as these on the cusip guys can get the play time they need to get better and get (back) into the NFL.

Re: CFL Expansion
It's fine if both leagues co-exist, but the CFL should not be thinking that they will be competing with the NFL in any way for talent (and I do not mean practice squad guys) or for fans in America. Ideally, we should be allowed to root for a CFL team and an NFL team. It should not be "one or the other" in America because if that's the mindset, the CFL will not win. The best path forward is a co-existence in which fans in America can have a CFL team to root for but also be allowed to continue to cheer on their favorite NFL team.DavedaHammer wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 4:21 amDavedaHammer wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 4:12 amThe CFL is the second largest football league in the world. I'm a fan of both the CFL and NFL, but I love the CFL a bit more because we played 3 downs in high school.GDAWG wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 1:31 pmIt's fine if both leagues co-exist, but the CFL should not be thinking that they will be competing with the NFL in any way for talent (and I do not mean practice squad guys) or for fans in America. But if the CFL expands southward, I think the NFL will lay down a couple of obstacles like with court injunctions, pressure networks to not carry the league on it's feeds, expand to 18 games, early start of the NFL season, etc. But we see if that comes true
