I'm totally not surprised and hope he gets to stay on the roster, but hate to lose him.
There's nothing behind Matthew Stafford. Perez is probably better than former AAF QB John Wolford, who is the #2 behind Stafford. He started one game in 2020 when the QB was Jared Goff and he wasn't great. His career numbers are 23 of 42 for 236 yards and 2 INT with a QB Rating of 51.3. It's one of those things where his future is likely as a coach, which is why the Rams like him as the #2. The 3rd QB is Bryce Perkins, who has been inactive or been on the practice squad the last three years with the Rams and who can easily benefit from a stint in either the USFL or XFL.
Oh yeah Wolford vs. Chris Streveler, which was unbelievably a win-and-in game--setting it apart from such "classics" as Sanchez vs. McElroy, Whitehurst vs. McCoy, and so on.
Not bad for a guy that the USFL forgot about on draft night. All 8 teams passed on him twice. Yikes, that was embarrassing! Congratulations Luis, I wish you well in the NFL!
>> According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, the Packers are signing wide receiver Osirus Mitchell (6-5, 210) to a one-year deal on Tuesday.
Mitchell, who caught 23 passes for 333 yards and three touchdowns for the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL this year, was one of seven players to work out for the Packers on Monday.<<
>> Chris Odom’s agent said recently that the USFL’s defensive player of the year had three workouts scheduled with teams. We now know one.
Nick Underhill of neworleans.football reports that Odom has a workout scheduled with the Saints.
Odom led the USFL with 12.5 sacks, 3.5 more than any other defender in the league. The Houston Gamblers standout also led the league with four blocked kicks and six forced fumbles and his eight tackles for loss ranked third. <<

#Jets add some extra WR/returner depth in former USFL star Rashard Davis.
Crossed paths with Joe Douglas in Philly.
He’ll compete for a roster spot primarily on special teams.
