Week 1 ratings

FS1 won't be released for another day or 2. The Sunday Easter games did well, but would have liked closer to 1 million on USA network.

4/16 - BHM/NJ - 3.067M (FOX/NBC)
4/17 - HOU/MI - 2.153M (NBC)
4/17 - PHI/NO - 771k (USA)

Wow, that's pretty impressive considering the weather delays.

Agree with Tank - WOW better than I thought it would be esp after weather delay. USA was at dinner time and with the delay still almost 800k - EXCELLENT.

While the lack of fans is a something not eye appealing, the HUB setup leads to great Production values of the games, all looked crisp and high quality.

USA game was probably hurt a bit by showing a Law and Order episode for the first hour of the time slot, lots of people probably tuned out.

At least on the West Coast where I am and where the league doesn't have a team presently....that Saturday NBC start was 9 am which is earlier than the early NFL game. So yeah I'm happy for that number....but this hub thing, I understand why......but those empty stadium game shots are going viral and it looks bad on tv. I hope we can get to year two.

I don't think the USFL really cares that much about the empty seats, they exclusively care about the ratings cause it means they can market the league better in season 2. They want name recognition and they can't get that if they don't have a product to show off.

Sure, so long as the empty seats don't affect the ratings. They aren't necessarily independent.

And that's the 64k question, but as long as they don't - FOX/NBC won't care. Sans Birmingham. I do think the league will do things to try and get some fans to these games. e.g. All give aways should be at NON-Stallions games etc...

I do worry about what happens if/when they fail to reach the 2.6 million viewers promised to advertisers. Do they refund their money, give them free slots on primetime programming, find some other way to recoup their loss? In XFL 1.0 sponsors started bailing out after week 4 and it was the same 3 commercials repeated over and over again.
