Nothing official yet. Through unofficial channels we learned there weren't non-chipped balls that could be used for kicking. The thought is that the league might reserve some non-chipped balls for this purpose.

Any chance they abandon the chip all together since there’s reports qbs find it hard to throw which also makes it hard to catchMarkNelson wrote: ↑Tue Apr 19, 2022 11:20 amNothing official yet. I hope they change it all together measuring ball placement isn’t worth hurting quality. At least it sounds like K balls may change4th&long wrote: ↑Tue Apr 19, 2022 11:49 amNo word yet, but I doubt it for QB - But Kicking I could see chgherns wrote: ↑Tue Apr 19, 2022 11:48 amAny chance they abandon the chip all together since there’s reports qbs find it hard to throw which also makes it hard to catchMarkNelson wrote: ↑Tue Apr 19, 2022 11:20 am

Re: USFL Ball hard to kick
It seemed like there were a LOT of under thrown deep balls. Could that be related? Because it's one thing to let the kickers struggle (not to mention a simple solution), but I don't think you can afford to handicap your quarterbacks.

Ya I saw reports the ball is lopsided and 5 oz heavier which qbs were saying makes it near impossible to throw correctly

Ya but the chains are still on the sideline, it’d be a really easy fix imo

Re: USFL Ball hard to kick
Seriously, not trotting out the chains for a measurement means they are missing out on a point of drama. Seeing a digital graphic of the ball placement with a measurement of inches to go is not even close to being a thrill.
