I am 100% against the XFL playing in an existing baseball stadium like Globe Life Field. If you want the XFL 3.0 to be taken seriously, having one of your teams play in an actual baseball stadium doesn't help. It has to be either soccer stadiums or already existing football stadiums.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanationTank55 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 12:37 pmWhen the news broke that Reggie Barlow was going to be an XFL coach, the original rumor was that he was going to the San Antonio team. More recent rumors suggest that's not the case, and that he's actually probably slated for DC. MGB01 is suggesting that maybe the original rumor was slightly garbled -- Barlow wasn't slated for the San Antonio team, but if the XFL runs a hub in San Antonio, that would be where he (and everyone else) would be coaching.

Oh that was fine for a one-off like Air Force/Army (which will happen this year as well), not for regular opsGDAWG wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 1:09 pmI am 100% against the XFL playing in an existing baseball stadium like Globe Life Field. Like how we all laughed at XFL 2001 in San Francisco?

It worked then, of course Oracle was fairly new. When Cal played there in 2011, not so much--in fact they played Fresno State at Candlestick (season opener) and reviews were that they should have played there instead, like UW did at Lumen Field in 2012.

Look, I'm not advocating for using Globe Life Field for the Renegades. I'm just pointing out that if the XFL wanted some sort of "super bubble" -- keep all the teams in one metro area but introduce some variety in terms of the venues, you can't ask for more options than the MetroPlex. And I definitely don't think being an active MLB park is an automatic disqualifier.

It's counterproductive though if you have to pack up with a month left with the Rangers coming back from Arizona, which is why you'd have to have to multiple venues

I mean, the Defenders weren't going to be able to host a playoff game in Audi Field. Such is life as a secondary tenant.

Things are different now. Back then there was no social media. Now if the XFL did that, they would be laughed at.
I am 100% opposed to playing in an active baseball stadium.
