USFL Rules inspired by XFL

Post by 4th&long »

Its clear the Conversion after TD and other rules were inspired by XFL

The OT is to keep the games in their time slot.

I like the Def Pass Interference rule limits

I also like the onsides choice.

The DPI is welcomed by me, something I wouldn't mind XFL3.0 using and should make its way to the NFL eventually. A spot foul can be ridiculous (see Chargers/Raiders), but just a straight 15 yards is, no can be about it. So why not go the old facemask route and split both?

The OT rule probably could be annoying (I prefer '2 and 1'), I've never been a fan of college OT since it essentially takes away 2/3 of the game, then again there is no foolproof "fix" of OT that isn't gimmicky--spot and choose is totally unserious, it's like something that Barstool came up with.

I'm good with everything else.

I guess because overtime is so broken throughout the sport, I don't mind a gimmicky idea being tried in the USFL or the XFL. I'd love to see one of these leagues try spot and choose.

TSL did give it a try coaches seemed confused though, I like trying new things but I’m glad it died with the TSL it just seemed to convoluted

Oh interesting, I didn't know that. How did it play out? (Who spot, who chose, who won?)

I think it was with Glanville and Mumme, If I remember right it seemed like no one understood what they were supposed to do. It was good to try something new but I’ll just say I’m glad it didn’t carry to the usfl
