Looks like legion field was the hold up for the deal but the vote to make the deal official is tomorrow. Announcement from the league is likely coming soon as they were waiting for the deal to be official

And you wonder why this city hasn't made progress - this should have been sign, sealed delivered months ago.herns wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 11:21 am Looks like legion field was the hold up for the deal but the vote to make the deal official is tomorrow. Re: USFL Birmingham deal finalized tomorrow
That makes sense. Seemed weird that the one councilman said there would be an announcement a week later and then two months passed with nothing despite the league announcing team names. I figured there was a snag somewhere.
Hopefully they get the details ironed out this time.

>> BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The goal to bring the United States Football League to Birmingham for 2022 is another step closer to reality after a vote from the city council Tuesday.
City leaders approved a resolution to allow the city and Birmingham Park and Recreation Board to execute an agreement with the USFL league to provide services to the USFL that do not exceed $500,000.

Under the agreement, the city would allow the league to use Legion Field, personnel, police, fire, and rescue for the new league.
“I am very excited today that we did pass the last hurdle of bringing the USFL to the city of Birmingham,” said Birmingham City Council President Wardine Alexander.<<
Well I HOPE that is it!

>> This latest decision from the council is the last piece of a long cooperative effort among regional leaders. By the end of 2021, the Jefferson County Commission and the city of Birmingham had both paid half a million each to secure the USFL season, and the Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) gave $2 million to support the project. <<
We all certainly hope so.

USFL Stallions Banner in Birmingham!
>> Roy S. Johnson @roysj
It can’t get much more official than this: although the @usfl
has not formally confirmed its commitment to playing its inaugural season in Birmingham this spring, one sign downtown is pretty clear. #BirminghamStallions
