You're getting to the point of trolling.
Look at the banner. Look at the URL. It's XFL Board. Not TSL board. Not USFL board. Not Brian Woods Fanboy board. I don't mind talking about other football leagues—I was a longtime member at UFL Access myself—but if you're going to come onto a board dedicated to talking about the XFL and do nothing but talk crap about said XFL then what is the point of staying around?

The USFL has been brought out of retirement at least 3x in the past 35 years. They're trying to be like the AAF and rush a season to stave off the XFL. Look at how good that did Ebersol and the AAF. The XFL and CFL are still actively talking, both sides have admitted as much. If Woods actually pays his players and gets Fox to pay a rights fee than I may be interested. In the meantime this has as much merit as the Easter Bunny.

That's yet to be seen. B Woods and Fox do not seem to be looking to run a high cost league. And there is nothing yet on the XFL front to indicate they definitely are coming back (2023). Based on B Woods interviews I believe Fox is funding thru equity or rights fee - He has stated that he needs to control the urge to spend the money coming from Fox.laxtreme56 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 6:39 pm The USFL has been brought out of retirement at least 3x in the past 35 years. The question I have is why use TSL in 2020-21 vs USFL in 2022. Is it purely a PR move to leverage USFL name and the sports media's attraction to it? Easier to promote than the TSL? To keep the TSL around as a feeder league? Going to a player pay model and wanted a clean break? These and more are the questions I have along with as you said... is it just Fox funding or others?
One thing is for sure.... the New USFL is getting alot more news coverage than TSL. Like the XFL the name carries weight.

Not great news if you can't wait to see Colin Kaepernick leading the new Birmingham club (since Dallas Stallions was in the list of trademarks but Bham wasn't) at Protective Stadium in April. But let's be honest, most everything that was available to the USFL (underclassmen, competition for first round picks, etc) four decades ago has been snapped up by the NFL anyway4th&long wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 10:05 pm That's yet to be seen. That last quote by Woods is interesting, there's plenty to learn from USFL1.0 and both AFLs (even as the American League is the most successful there's a chance they would have spent themselves out of existence under the Davis plan had not the merger happened). Woods even has himself to learn from although moreso from a structural standpoint as the highest profile players in the FXFL were there for a handful of games (Josh Freeman, Tim Hightower), so it's not like he went out and made a run at Jadeveon Clowney/Aaron Donald or anything.

Woods has made a go of the TSL when others fell by the wayside, so he must be doing something at least partially right. I would expect the TSL to go away eventually and be replaced in some fashion by the USFL. It's hard to knock a guy, whether you like him or not, who has kept a product on the field during these challenging times. Let's just wait and see how it all plays out. Regardless, I'm all for more AMERICAN STYLE FOOTBALL, even if it isn't as polished as THE No Fun League.

Well stated... Agreed.Firecop wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 1:57 pm Woods has made a go of the TSL when others fell by the wayside, so he must be doing something at least partially right. The USFL name gets press, while the TSL does not... it was a smart PR move.
Chicago Sun-Times unique article

>> The United States Football League is making a comeback?
God bless America.
There might be another pro football team in Chicago?
Make it happen.
“You know what? Give it a shot,” is where Hall of Fame coach Marv Levy stands.
I had to call Levy, a hometown football treasure, and take his temperature on news of a USFL return in the spring of 2022. There will be teams in at least eight cities — all locations to be determined — with the league holding rights to the original names from its 1983-1985 existence. And how great some of those names were: the Houston Gamblers, the Memphis Showboats, the Birmingham Stallions, the Boston Breakers.
Of course, the Chicago Blitz, too. <<

Awesome that Levy is still in pretty good health at 95. Of course he also came up during the AFC championship game as he coached both the Bills and Chiefs. Plus he's going into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame later this year.
