Re: TSL News Thread
Has anyone seen viewership numbers from Tuesday night? I just saw the top 150 cable ratings for Tuesday and they weren’t on it.

I'm also curious if we know who's paying who and who's covering the cost of production.

Interview with Joe Bosack, who designed most of the TSL logos:

Not mentioned here, but Bosack also did the AAF logos.

No - and Im sure it was low, there was no promotion at all. I'm thinking this is a soft launch - ie low key to see internally how it goes. Awareness will grow. They did repeat the game later at night Wed and Thur.Uncle Coaster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 12:52 pm Has anyone seen viewership numbers from Tuesday night? Interesting to see if they do some promo prior to week 3.

Good find, they do look AAF like - not surprised to hear that.Tank55 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 10:04 pm Interview with Joe Bosack, who designed most of the TSL logos:

Also this comment shows how quick this FS1 deal came together. Likely right after the XFL bailed on 2021.
>>“It happened really quickly,” Bosack told SportsLogos.net in a phone interview earlier this month. “We developed all four identities over the course of four weeks. They were set on the team names, but everything else was wide open.<<

If it wasn't in the top 150 we're probably looking in the 30-50k range, AKA infomercial territory.Uncle Coaster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 12:52 pm Has anyone seen viewership numbers from Tuesday night? I just saw the top 150 cable ratings for Tuesday and they weren’t on it.

Re: TSL News Thread
Why would the XFL playing or not playing in 2021 have an impact on FS1's programming on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in October/November 2020?

Re: TSL News Thread
TSL is playing in spring 2021 - in the absence of XFL Fox signed with TSL. They rushed this fall to get a dry run or soft launch or what have you to either kick the tires or test things out and fill some air time.
Clearly the TSL signing is related as it happened a day after XFL bail annoucement and was rushed.

Re: TSL News Thread
So if this is a "soft launch", your understanding is that the Spring 2021 offering is going to be bigger and better than what they're doing right now?

Re: TSL News Thread
That is my opinion - yes. Both by TSL and FS1/Fox. Assuming Fox likes what it sees.
This is a relatively low cost prod by Fox. There is no travel cost to Fox either. It looks like Virtual announcers. This fall the Sports Nets are sports starved esp mid-week. Its an opportunity that both TSL and FS1 jumped at and can start to build fan awareness into spring - especially in the absence of XFL. Fans are NOW getting accustom to spring FB. (AAF 2019, XFL 2020, TSL 2021).
If they like what they see, they can push for any changes and improvements. TSL will be doing similar.
The TSL may also get some quite a few repeat players from fall to spring and that makes game flow better in the spring.
I think this is an evolving situation, a developing situation. FS1 could invest/pay a fee of $1-2mm and get at 4-6 week reg season of games next spring. That money might finance the entire season.
Time will tell.
