So 1 team with strong attendance (Commanders). 2 teams have their opener next week. Salt Lake and Atlanta.
That’s a shame with The San Diego market. It looks like on the worst crowds of the early season.
People were talking 30k for San Diego. Looks more like 15k or so.

AAF's league average around 18k right now...

Maybe that’s how the league is saving money. 1 uniform per team. Although you’d think you would want as many Jersey options as possible, to make money off merchandise.

That was their best game thus far. San Antonio is a hit in the AAF. Not shocked because Texas is money. Orlando might do ok too. They weren’t that bad in the XFL. The Rage was good and attendance was ok. It helps having a good team and Spurrier.

Arizona, Memphis, Birmingham and San Diego are not off to good starts attendance wise. The Hotshots attendance might improve if they keep winning.

The jury is still out on Atlanta and Salt Lake. Atlanta has the ideal sized stadium. Smallest in the AAF. Salt Lake is 0 and 2 and haven’t been home yet. We will see what their weather is like in their home opener. That market is an unknown.
The original XFL made a mistake having no teams in Texas. Glad they're doubling up and making a rivalry ;)

As for Atlanta I've heard they're struggling to sell tickets, and Salt Lake being a smaller market and 0-2 I don't expect them to blow the doors off with their attendance next week either.

To me the extra money is worth having your product be more presentable.

I was at the Commanders game -- great energy. People were into it.

San Antonio had the advantage of hosting training camp. It was easy for the local media to cover the league. Oliver Luck has said the XFL will do a joint training camp as well; they might want to think about investing in more than one site.

All four reported attendances looked about 5K high to me. I'm not clear on if they're reporting paid attendance or gate attendance.

The Fleet reported an attendance of 20,019

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_AAF_ ... Attendance

Seems a bit high to me, but after 2 weeks in the AAF the average attendance is at 19,417. An improvement of over 200 people from last week! Problem is San Antonio doesn't have 10 home games, and you can only give away so many tickets. There are people saying that in Birmingham people were giving away tickets left and right to help the attendance numbers. If you want to make a profit, you have to sell tickets. Not too shabby after 2 weeks, but there's 8 to go...

An update on AAF stadium prices:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2 ... 903068002/
►The stadium prices are still like the NFL’s. It might feel like minor-league football, but stadium shops are still priced for the NFL. Hot dogs here cost $6. A 16-ounce Bud Light costs $10. Both prices are fairly high even by NFL standards, according to Team Marketing Report, which collects NFL concession prices. Parking was $20, which is low by NFL standards, but seemed a bit much for an AAF game with a huge parking lot.

This isn’t the league acting greedy, however. The city owns the property and has contractors to handle parking and concessions. The league only gets 10 percent of net parking revenue in excess of the first $150,000.

I wouldn't think anything of it save that Ebersol specifically promised Falcons-esque concessions pricing during the unveiling.

Looks like the AAF's number is being called into question by PFT:

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... t-so-much/

My guess is they included no-shows and maybe added a few to get over that 20k mark.

While many people are saying that many fans come after kickoff, the article below has a picture of the crowd during the game:

Still very empty...
