Just saw a story about groups pressuring the Athletics into selling their stake in the Coliseum to clear the path for various projects.
The African-American Sports & Entertainment Group seems to want the godforsaken stadium for its own sake.
The Athletics are accused of refusing to let other local teams use the stadium so as to create the impression that it's falling apart, in order to strengthen their own rationale for eventually leaving. But now that's supposedly set in stone, yet the A's can't play in Vegas until 2028. So now we're hearing that they are willing to rent out to the Roots and Soul soccer clubs, which are hampered by having to play in a 5000 seat small-college stadium. Meanwhile the county has no leverage left to get the A's to do anything except refuse to renew its lease for the next 3 years.
Well hell, tear down everything except Mount Davis and let the UFL and soccer have it. What better UFL stadium than one that only has seats on one side for the cameras to watch?
Keep an eye on Oakland

Not so fast. There's also been talk of the A's remaining at the Coliseum until 2028 because they don't want to lose their current TV deal, which is a lot. Selling their half of the Coliseum is likely one of the demands the City of Oakland wants for the A's in order to remain in Oakland until 2028, along with other unrealistic options such as keeping the name, team colors and history in Oakland for a future expansion team.
