Which Cities Will Be Left For The XFL?

The AAF is planning on releasing cities and team names this month. I am hoping for both leagues to continue and eventually merge within 5 years.

Assuming both leagues continue, which cities will be left for the XFL in 2020? It would be interesting if the XFL jumped into some cities that would be natural rivals http://xflboard.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=47 for the initial AAF cities.

They're taking all the XFL's cities, I don't like the AAF I feel like they're starting earlier just to try to get a jump start on the XFL...

This is exactly how to do it. Put out one team at a time in a football hungry city, in a football cultured region. And include a legendary coach, who is also from the area.

I bet in the next few days a you’ll see a Texas city (an area the XFL missed the last go around).

Word is they're playing at UCF's stadium, rather than Camping World Stadium (aka the Citrus Bowl). Interesting choice to rent the college's stadium.

There goes my hopes of the Orlando Rage returning.

If rumors are true that San Diego and Memphis were already marked down on AAF's website, that means 5 more to truly be revealed.

Looks like the tweets re the UCF stadium are gone along with the twitter account of a guy who supposedly works for the AAF.

Some XFL to "city" twitter accounts have been quiet. That could mean nothing (as nothing is happening for the XFL right now) or it could mean that the AAF is coming. XFL-Memphis and San Diego (map rumor teams) twitter account have been quiet. XFL-Omaha and Oklahoma have been quiet as well. Also, New York and Chicago never really got the hype going.

I think Ohio will get a team (Columbus, Canton?) based on the Dan Patrick interview with Charlie. Charlie said that Dan would personally be happy with one team pick and Dan is an Ohio guy.

In another interview he mentioned Super Bowl and National Champion coaches for at least some of the remaining teams. Could Chicago get a team with Mike SIngeltary? Jeff Fisher in Memphis or Chicago?

AAF predictions: Orlando, San Diego, Memphis, NY/NJ, Chicago, Columbus/Canton, St Louis, Texas (SA or Austin).

That would leave the following available for the XFL: Portland, SLC, N Cal, Omaha, OKC, Wash DC, Hartford, & Birmingham

As for Texas, I couldn't imagine a team going to UT's 100,000+ seat stadium. It's going to be nowhere near full, and any student rush on tickets they'd get will taper out as the season moves along. Other than a few HS venues, there's nothing anywhere close to the capacity needed for a team.

San Antonio works, but Alamodome has moved on with UTSA as their primary tenant and though it's offseason, it's the only venue in the city that would work. Alamo Stadium is a HS venue and far below what either team is probably shooting for.

Austin would entirely depend on the MLS moving there and building a new stadium for both. Temporary fields include Mike A. Myers Stadium at UT (Where the Crew would probably start out) and Tony Burger Activity Center and Stadium. Neither is ideal but with may work if a brand new stadium is on the horizon.

The Alamodome would need to close at least part of the upper levels and try to avoid showing that on TV. Even the NFL has done that (Jax). Alamo Stadium looks good but, as you said, it is HS. With both the XFL and AAF being single-entity, starting out in SA and moving to Austin in 3 yrs would not be out of the question.
