XFL Salary Structure Revealed

In a recent interview with Russ Salzberg on ogpodcasts. XFL commissioner Oliver Luck revealed the pay structure for players and head coaches.

* Each team will have the same salary cap/spending limit.

* Head coaches will make 500 thousand a season and will act as team gm’s and assume responsibility for all personnel decisions.

* Top tier players in the XFL will make 250k to 300k a season. Not counting weekly win bonuses etc. This will be a limited group of players. Most likely the league’s 8 starting quarterbacks.

* The second tier of players in The XFL will make 150 to 175k. This will probably be a limited group as well per team. My guess is top pass rushers, receivers, cornerbacks and running backs.

* The final tier will be in the 50 to 100k range. Presumably the 50k would be for kickers, punters and long snappers. The 100k may be for some select players like backup quarterbacks.
