>> Moving to Free TV
One of the most significant developments sources are telling us is that all games will be broadcast over the air on network television, specifically ABC, Fox, and NBC. The aim here is straightforward: get as many eyes on the product as possible by making it freely accessible. Replays will follow suit, but with a twist — they will be exclusively available on streaming platforms.

ESPN: Out of the Game?
One of the most telling indicators of future partnerships—or lack thereof—is the source that broke the news of the XFL-USFL merger. The story wasn’t leaked or announced by ESPN; rather, it was Axios that took the lead. Axios is owned by Cox Communications, the third-largest cable company in the U.S., sparking questions about whether there might be a new broadcasting relationship on the horizon.
Previously, XFL games were accessible via ESPN+, a paid streaming service. This arrangement required fans to subscribe to catch the live action or replays. However, in a strategic shift that could signal ESPN’s dwindling role, these games are now moving to YouTube where they can be watched for free. Don’t believe us, go to ESPN Plus and type in XFL in the search.<<

I'll bet they REALLY want that Philly market but need a good deal on stadium. Its sounds like they are using their combined "muscle" to negotiate with these cities, pitting them against themselves and saying "well if you don't want us someone else does - make a good deal"
Only issue with Philly is the city is turning into a s##thole and mayor is weak hack. Subaru std is not in city and I hope they can get a deal there. Mich too.

Sure... but I hope not. Small TV market, no good stadium except steelers. Philly (subaru std) is a stones throw from DC too.GDAWG wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 12:05 pmPennsylvania doesn't mean just Philly. I have definitely heard it the other way: "No Hubs, no way." This is from someone who is an XFL employee.
So the gears are turning and it seems both sides, USFL and XFL, have a plan.
My opinion, based on my own instincts: there will not be an agreement between these two sides.

I guess the end result will tell us just how desperate XFL ownership truly is, since it's clear they never wanted a full hub in the first place. Can they walk away and make it work in year two on their own? Or is their only shot of survival teaming up with the USFL and accepting the hub scenario?MarkNelson wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 1:00 pm I have definitely heard it the other way: "No Hubs, no way." if they have been negotiating since early July,
and then someone bothered to leak that they were so close to an agreement
"an announcement could come this week"
then why would it fall apart now?

I believe Mike Mitchell said it was the football ops teams that mutually reached out to each other, before running the idea to their higher ups. Perhaps the actual ownership groups are just now meeting for the first time and are further apart on an agreement than we're lead to believeBattleHawks wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 2:01 pm if they have been negotiating since early July,

I can't see that. At this point I think it's investor related, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Axios article was floated out there as a way to gauge true interest based on a one-league scenario.laxtreme56 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 2:09 pmI believe Mike Mitchell said it was the football ops teams that mutually reached out to each other, before running the idea to their higher ups. They probably have their deadline for moving forward. Despite the upcoming draft it might not be for a few weeks yet, and it doesn't seem as if there is a clear road in the hub decision. My gut feeling says they're trying everything they can to have the teams perform in their home cities, but there are a few major roadblocks that may necessitate multiple hubs. But more cash flow may help solve that, and they may be waiting as long as possible to see if it can happen.
