There are some apparent truths in all that McMahon has decided in regards to the XFL. 1. He was all in for the league in 2019 and willing to invest $250 million in three years. 2. The pandemic changed his mind and he got out as soon as he could. 3. He turned from a love of Oliver Luck to a hate of the man. This helped drive the XFL closure decision. 4. He is done with the XFL.
Point 3 is based on discussions I had with more than one highly placed people when researching my book about XFL 2020. It was hard for me to realize how people were mixed about their feelings for Luck, both positive and negative. Those that were loyal to McMahon also disliked the man.
Point 4 is based on more recent discussions I have had with people in the know. McMahon won’t reinvest in the XFL.
Still, personally I am not convinced McMahon won’t ever change his mind about the XFL. He has shown he is like a chameleon in the past, and even his changing attitude about Oliver Luck demonstrates his ability to switch gears in a heartbeat. For me, that’s what makes McMahon so interesting. I might not agree with his business practices but he is fun to watch.

I am a fan of McMahon for that reason only. He makes it interesting.
