On Saturday, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Argonauts play the first-ever CFL regular season game in Halifax at Huskies Stadium on the campus of Saint Mary's University.

Last year the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Argonauts played a pre-season at game at Acadia University stadium in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

This is all pre-curser to establishing a CFL team in Atlantic Canada.

I'm hoping the Schooners finally get off the ground. It's been, what?, 40 years of efforts now?

More like five years of effort over a forty year span.

Yeah no kidding. They were talking about the Halifax Schooners back in the 80s when I was in Halifax with the Canadian Navy. Plenty of football fans there, and they mostly cheer for Montreal or Toronto. High time to get their own team. It's always the lack of a decent stadium that kills the idea.
