I think the BC Lions should lock up Rourke before the NFL comes calling. I think a 3 year deal at $500,000. Pay him as a top QB as he should be paid

You’re right, they should lock him up in a contract. He has stellar numbers, and barring injury there is no reason to think he won’t continue with his offensive prowess for the entire season.
MOP? Yes, if he can put up a whole season of this.

I don't think he can sign that deal. He is forced into the league's rookie contract.
Even if he could, he wouldn't. He's as good as gone to the NFL.

The BC Lions could tear up his entry level deal and give him 3 or 4 year deal at $500,000 right now. The BC Lions need the kid as a gate attraction since it needs to fortify it's brand in the Vancouver market. Rourke would only get interest from the 4 to 5 crappy teams in the NFL and get beat up by poor O-Line protection that these bottom 5 teams currently employ
You don't know that. Rourke would make just as equal money being a starting QS than holding a clipboard. Bo Levi Mitchell had the same situation going on with the Vikings. He didn't want to be a back up. He wanted a starter's job. Bo did alright with his decision. So could Rourke

Have you heard of a team tearing up a rookie contract? I'm genuinely asking. I don't think you're allowed to. I could be wrong.
Bo was also older when he was possibly going. Rourke will definitely take the chance to go to the NFL. The CFL is always going to be there for him. The NFL is the chance at generational money.
I say this as a massive CFL fan wishing he would stay. But it's only happening if he gets hurt (hopefully last night's injury isn't serious) or he doesn't crack a roster.

Precedents can be set. Rourke is still enough to get a second crack in making a NFL roster in his late 20's like Moon did

Rourke is going for foot surgery. The team is hopeful he can play before the season ends.

Farhan Laiji said Rourke is done for the year. It's a Lisfranc break. It takes months to heal. So much for his CFL MOP and NFL carrot

Too bad for Rourke. He’ll be back, maybe sooner than people think. Probably stronger and hungrier too.
