Re: QB Salaries 2023
The optics of it looks embarrassing with Streveler chasing NFL team to NFL team when he isn't a good passer. Streveler is American, I expect him to try catch on with a team, but he's barely hanging on. Rourke is a much better passer, but he's going up against NFL biases they have about the CFL The Jags will pick up another QB, they would dumb to rely on Beathard or Rourke if Lawrence gets injured. If TL goes down, I bet the Jags sign Cam Newton before letting either Beathard or Rourke on the fieldKJE wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 9:27 pmYou say this like it's a bad thing.DavedaHammer wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 10:51 pm Rourke will be lucky to end up like Chris Streveler at the end
Rourke is another Nick Mullins in my eyes. When the Jags and Rourke part ways, is he going to chase the dream, moving from NFL practice roster to practice roster like Streveler has? After several years chasing the dream, Rourke would likely lost the drive returning to the CFL. By then there could be more Canadian QB getting their chance to be a CFL starter

Yeah, it's embarrassing for Streveler to work hard and earn a pension all while making more money than he could in Canada.

That pension isn't alot for the wear and tear on the body and the rise of CTE. He might be able to afford cat food by the time he hits 65. But then again he could enter into a class action law suit on long term concussions after his playing career is done. The NFL will have to settle out of court with a the new generation of football players down the future. By then he might be able to afford canned food for human consumption

Not all NFL players are going to be like that. Just like the generation before them, there are a lot of players who are in financial troubles, but also a lot of players who are financially well off, to the point where they put their money on investment opportunities after their playing careers end.DavedaHammer wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 5:49 pmThat pension isn't alot for the wear and tear on the body and the rise of CTE. NFL players are terrible with their money. The league has some sort of financial consultation with incoming rookies, but some never heed the advice given to them. Go watch the 30 For30 doc entitled "Broke". There were a lot of NFL player stories like Vinny Testaverdi(sic)GDAWG wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 6:07 pmNot all NFL players are going to be like that. Not all NFL players are terrible with money, but a lot of them are and I am not doubting that part. The part I am doubting is that you assume that all NFL players have financial issues and that is not true. I highly doubt that Peyton Manning or his brother Eli have any serious financial issues. Other than the FTX situation, Tom Brady doesn't look like he's in desperate need of financial help. I doubt that we'll see Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen or Dak Prescott or Travis Kelce all living on the streets when they are 50.DavedaHammer wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 6:55 pmNFL players are terrible with their money. There will be plenty of NFL players who will be dead broke and destitute, but there will also be plenty of players who will be fine financially.
