>> The Aussie could get his chance in the United States Football League.

Adam Korsak, who became the greatest punter in Rutgers history, was selected by the New Jersey Generals in the USFL’s college draft earlier this week. The Melbourne, Australia native was chosen in the eighth of 10 rounds.

Despite being chosen by the USFL, Korsak will get his chance at a career in the NFL. He was the only Rutgers player invited to the league’s combine, which begins on Feb. 28, with kickers and punters scheduled to work out on Friday, March 3, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. If a player doesn’t get drafted or ends up getting cut from an NFL roster this season or in the future, they will revert to the roster of the USFL team that selected them.<<

If this works, the Red Bulls might consider hosting the Generals:

A pair of revered HBCU football programs will compete in a new classic.

Grambling State will play Hampton in the inaugural Brick City HBCU Kickoff Classic at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

Kickoff is scheduled for Sept. 2 at 3:00 p.m. EST

The Classic is designed to increase awareness of HBCUs while also having a direct impact on the City of Newark through the awarding of scholarships, strengthened partnerships, and local economic development.

“Hampton University is appreciative of the invite to participate in the inaugural Brick City Classic and the opportunity to face another legendary HBCU program, Grambling State University. This will be a great weekend for our alums in the New York and New Jersey area to be a part of a prestigious HBCU classic, reconnect with fellow Hamptonians, and support our football team over the Labor Day Weekend,” said Hampton President Darrell K. Williams.

Hampton and Grambling State both look to have breakout years in 2023.

“Our players, coaches, fans, and alumni are excited to play in the Brick City Classic against Grambling State University at Red Bull Arena. We know it will be a great atmosphere, and we know it will be a great game with two of the best brands in HBCU football being able to match up — two very explosive teams. I have a lot of respect for Coach Hue Jackson and the way he does things. You see the growth, you see the explosiveness from his group, and we know it’s going to be a heck of a matchup,” said Hampton coach Robert Prunty.

Said Hue Jackson about the matchup:

“We’re extremely excited to play in the Brick City Classic against the Hampton Pirates to start our season,” he said. “We’re looking forward to going on the road traveling to Newark, New Jersey, and playing this game.”

Kyle Lauletta released?

Post by 4th&long »

>> James Larsen@JamesLarsenPFN
The @USFLGenerals have seemingly released QB Kyle Lauletta, as he's no longer listed on the team's roster (h/t @JShusterUSFL).

Lauletta wraps up his #USFL season with 416 passing yards (61.3%), 3 TD, & 3 INT in four games. With De'Andre Johnson reactivated, the move makes sense. <<
