Who are you rooting for and why?

I want to root for the Gamblers, since they have that beautiful logo and they would be the team closest to me should they ever actually play in Houston. But the uniforms tweaks are such that I find myself drawn much more to the Panthers. Which is so funny, because they were not one of the teams I cared for in the original USFL. I think it's the only uniform refresh that added value to the brand.

So I'm leaning toward Panthers in the North and Gamblers in the South, but I reserve the right to change that once I get to see the teams on the field.

Michigan because location and the helmets may be the best of any football league. I’m rooting for Sloter to do well as well because I’ma fan of him

Maybe former Dragons' OC Mike Riley's Generals?

Stallions. Geographically the closest to me, and they’ve got some talent. I end up watching a lot of Sun Belt football and think CJ Marable may end up the leagues best RB.

Uniforms aren’t all that dynamic, but for NFL I’m a Giants fan so that’s not really a deal breaker.

I'm from the St. Louis area and was obviously a huge BattleHawks fan, so I'm going to be rooting for the Bandits because of all the former Hawks playing for them. Ta'amu of course, Bruno Reagan, Keith Mumphery, camp guys like Jordan Lasley & Juwann Bushell-Beatty, plus the BattleHawks drafted Corbin Kaufusi.

I've also long thought that the Tampa Bay Bandits is one of the best team identities in sports history. I just love the name and they nailed the logo. Before the rosters were set I also was thinking about rooting for the Panthers, Breakers, and Stallions because I love those identities as well.

I'm mostly rooting for the league though as are most of us probably. The Bandits' success is secondary to the league as a whole working out long-term.

The USFL

The whole league... We've had AAF almost fizzle out in 1 week, get thru 8 and crash, XFL 2.0 great 5 weeks and the corona virus f-job took that down. The TSL tease of something better to come (and it did start and finish on schedule), and now the return of the USFL with big media backing (another PFT-NBC Sports article below), need a successful 2022 and return in 2023!

The whole league - awesome relaunch of a fun league and all that goes with it. NFL is getting to be too big for its britches, too much soap-opera, drama drama, drama - yeah its still the best sport league by far, yet its 4 months, plus playoffs which go fast. A relatively short season league to get us thru spring - yep - all in.

>> Thirty-eight years ago, I was looking forward to the launch of the USFL. I’m now looking forward to its return, even if it’s technically not the original USFL.

Although not many players with significant NFL experience will be playing in the new USFL, there are several coaches whose names you’ll remember. <<

I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the football. Not expecting much, and I don't have much of a rooting interest in any of these teams.

Ideally, the league does badly enough that Fox pulls out of the venture after a single season (I don't see any way they cancel the season midway through with as big as a company as they are), but well enough that they give the XFL another shot.

Worst take of all time. Don’t go XFL only with takes we just need one of these leagues to work who cares if it’s the xfl or USFL
