Roster Construction

USFL just dropped what I assume is just a fun tweet of Shea Patterson punting:

But I remembered that the USFL is using tight rosters, correct? I don't even see a kicker on their current roster (although there is a punter). Is there a chance that some regulars are going to be asked to cover specialist duties?

I actually think that's a great idea -- make punting rarer/more fun by having less-good punters and snappers. And you can have less good punters and snappers by forcing teams to use generalists rather than specialists through roster size.

I actually think that's a great idea -- make punting rarer/more fun by having less-good punters and snappers. And you can have less good punters and snappers by forcing teams to use generalists rather than specialists through roster size.

Ryan Willis in TSL did this with Hal Mumme and it was extremely dangerous because teams were never ready for a fake and when they were it would be punted
