True, but it's not like other teams couldn't run the ball. If their run game was half as good as JT, they'd be up 28-0

And this lack of run game is not only keeping Pittsburgh in it, but having an effect on JT
When are we gonna stop with the excuses?

And Rausa missed a chipshot? GFC
You could not ask for a worse two days to follow up than the USFL just had, weather has maybe 10% to do with it. It's like the Patriots beating the Bills then losing to the Jets and Jaguars.
They say one 'AW ....!' erases 1000 'attaboys', but what happens when you get 1000 ASs? (although the end of it kind of answers that)

At least the Bandits and Maulers are playing like their original USFL versions. The Bandits have the best passing game, and the Maulers are hopeless.

I guess we know who the dumpster fire in this league is now, especially with Love being pulled for Lauletta at the end there. I'm gonna give it 3 weeks before a 'Tampa Bay Vipers'-esque situation occurs where you start hearing players dissatisfied and wanting out.

Pretty good opening weekend for the USFL. The Maulers were the one team who had a bad offensive first half that seemed to not adjust and improve. But their D looks solid. Kirby is the least experienced at HC coach too.
Johnston in the booth talking about looking at what they did well and what they can improve. Clearly getting more people in the stands is one (for non-Stallions games), but that's HUB play in a small city. But overall a pretty good start.
Ta'amu played well and TB D looks solid. Them vs NOLA will be good game next week.
Watching it felt like real FB and with players giving it their all. Fun Stuff!

These leagues live and die by the quality of quarterback, besides Ta'mu and Perez, nobody else really stuck out. Especially compared to how Cardale Jones, and PJ Walker balled out in game 1. The kicking has been atrocious. Remember the 50 yarder kicked at the end of the DC-Seattle hope opener, has anyone hit a FG longer than 35 yards yet? At least no missed PAT's that I recall. I think play would have been exceptionally better had they had a proper preseason. 6 weeks of full pad practice with 1 legit preseason game and 1 scrimmage. I'll keep watching as I"m a football junkie, but I'm not too confident in the ratings we'll see next weekend judging by the reactions on Twitter I saw today.

I had to work late tonight and just finished the game. The Maulers O was lacking to say the least. I think they almost put TB into a semi hibernation in the 2nd half but clearly Pittsburgh’s defense was playing hard. Hopefully they can get it straightened out quickly so we don’t have a lot of lopsided games because of it. The league can’t afford a lot of these.

MacGinnis missed an XP, and the same Rausa missed a 34-yarder here.laxtreme56 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:53 pm These leagues live and die by the quality of quarterback, besides Ta'mu and Perez, nobody else really stuck out. FOX got their work cut out for them Saturday. Philly seems to be the epitome of the league: kicking and OL keeping them from possibly being the A-team (and Scott would definitely be in the convo with Perez and Ta'amu). That looks like the '91 Skins in comparison to Pittsburgh. And all this with a noon start, which might suffer a bit as west coasters might not be as inclined to tune in as they would if it were Ohio St/Michigan or so. NBC will have the fun and probably the higher rated matchup with Tampa and NO.
