At this point just have Rock on RAW for the big 5-0 in two weeks (maybe bring Mac over from SD to interview him) and go full scorched earth: "Rock, do you plan to play games in the XFL, and will you have actual kickers?"

Definite backwards steps today
What?
Remember the NU/Illinois thread when I said explicitly USFL can't have these little screwups if they're going to go from thing in '22 to thing in '23? Here you go. Only difference I was talking production gaffes as opposed to gaffes in general.

And using TSL as a backup doesn't work here, cause basically you're just confirming the fear of this being TSL2.0

Steinbrenner pissed a lot of his own fans a few years ago with that early postponement--and nothing happened, hope the same doesn't happen here. Unlike Steinbrenner (cause let's face it, Yankee fans always leave the team, and are back two days later), FOX doesn't have that luxury.
Come on now. If this was Stallions home game for the week, they'd still reschedule. The example of TSL was that they had Thunderstorm delays, baseball has them too. It's going to happen unfortunately.

Saturday night went off without hitch. They dodged a weather bullet.

What happens with the same forecast tomorrow? BTW it's 68 at 9:25 local with April showers, I'll take that. Hardly 25-35 MPH winds with 60-70 gusts or enough rain to wipe out visibility for even just a few feet ahead of you that I totally see the need.

As ridiculous as I thought the theory of the USFL/TSL being done only to fulfill the remainder of the XFL's contract was, doesn't seem so much right now. Talk about sabotage.

The forecast on weather.com is clear tomorrow.

QUESTION to all: Are the NBC/USA game replays available on Peacock?

{EDIT: Actually I saw a 15 minute highlight reel on NBC / PFT for the michigan game. Did not realize that game was almost won by Mich on last play. At least it was interesting to the end.}

CFB HC's 3-0 over NFL/NFLE HC's

Post by 4th&long »

Not sure it was mentioned earlier but the CFB HC's (I don't think Holtz, Sumlin, Fedora) have much if any Pro coaching experience - Went 3-0 against 2 former NFL HC's / NFLE HC (with NFL position coachings exp)

That's pretty wild. Though all games were close, Michigan almost pulled it out.

Before the USFL, Holtz, Sumlin and Fedora had a grand total of zero years of pro coaching experience.

Thx for confirming. I'm glad they did well. They were all close games. But good to see they can compete.

Watched 15minute highlight reels from the Sunday games.

Obviously the crowd was going to disappoint when the rain hit in a day that had one ticket for 3 games separated by 8 hours, with the weather forget it. Hopefully they do a bit better tonight. But that's hub ball in a small city.
Besides that:

The highlights looked good, the announcing and TV work was good. The game play wasn't bad (Mich had snap issues and Philly OL needs help) but for game one not bad at all.

The games were close - very much needed. The team uniforms looked good on TV and better than the pics so far, the players look to be working together and they played hard.

Another week and by week 3 we should see what these teams really settle into.

The one thing this league needed was a longer preseason. What I'm seeing is less a lack of quality and more lack of cohesion. Quarterbacks and receivers just aren't on the same page and nearly every snap is happening hurried with less than 3 seconds on the game clock. The overall play, in my opinion is above AAF but a step below XFL. So far no quarterback has put on a show like PJ Walker or Cardale Jones did in week 1. Let's see how Jordan looks tonight.

They also have a 35 second play clock. That kind of rushing to get the snap off is common in every league that it's been tried. Is part of the reason why XFL2 took the approach it did.
