The obvious result of a running clock, sans a quick play 2 minute offense is less plays in exchange for less total game time. This is the trade off.

The USFL introduced a running clock after incompletions in Q1 and Q3 for Week 4.
The average offensive plays (kicks, punts, FGs excluded) per team has dropped by roughly 8 plays per team thus far.<<
Thus we can expect offensive production to be reduced.
