Opening night got very solid ratings (granted two nets and final ratings not in) but 3mm matches AAF and XFL debuts and they were in much colder Feb where you more people trapped inside.

The games this week end were 3/4 close to the last minute, and the worst game was 2 scores.

AAF openers were 15-6 SA over SD and Orlando 40-6. USFL was Birm 28-24 over NJ. AAF Birmingham lost 0-26 in its home opener, so the home town has to like USFL over that. The other AAF game was 38-22 AZ over SLC.
So the USFL games were much more competitive, and it looks like play was better. And I watched the AAF!

XFL had :
DC 31 - Seattle 19 (season opener)
Houston 37 - LA 17
NY 23 - 3 TB
StL 15 - 9 Dallas

So USFL start had the 2 games go to last few seconds, 1 tight throughout and one 2 score win that didn't get too out of reach. In the end they had the closer games and probably the best start of 3 leagues from a competitive game/scoring perspective. Houston just came out guns blazing, June Jones should have gotten a HC job in either USFL or XFL 3.0.

In the end I don't think the extra week camp made any diff for AAF/XFL starts. With a game under belt things will improve but I think they will need 2 games maybe 3 to firm up.

Shea Patterson looked really good, imo. His fumble inside the 10 that was ran back for a touchdown was such a crucial mistake that it's hard to say he had a good game, but I'd feel just fine about him going forward if I were a Panthers fan or coach.

Scott and Shea looked pretty good to me. Slotter and Smith as too. Play should improve with gametime reps.
