USFL ratings (from fox EVP Michael Mulvvihill)

“ USFL viewership peaked last night in the final half hour at nearly 3.5 million.

Seems positive that viewership peaked late. Game held interest fairly well. Rather see that than a curiosity-driven early peak followed by a drop.”

3.0 million viewers for the USFL opener. More than held its own on a day filled with traditional spring sports players.

“3.0m also marks a +25% gain over recent FOX+NBC Saturday night performance.”

Week 1 XFL games all peaked as the game went on as well. Would be great to see them only lose 1/3 their audience by week 5 instead of 2/3 like the XFL and AAF

It'll be tough. Remember, that first game was on two over-the-air networks, with 1.5 million or so for each—a little higher than I was expecting, but not by much.

I had the two USFL games on TV in the background during Easter dinner, so I actually got to see the games in real-time today. The empty stands definitely felt awkward. The level of play was again inconsistent—and there were a few times where I wasn't sure the best team was going to win.

I was expecting 4mm-5mm - these are fast overnights, finals may be different, hope it ticks up.

But it matches AAF and XFL 2.0 debuts and its in spring vs winter so likely more reasonable.
