San Antonio Commanders of the AAF sound as if they want to sign Johnny Manziel

San Antonio Commanders hold the AAF rights to former first-round draft pick Johnny Manziel. It sounds like the Commanders are interested in adding Johnny Football as well. San Antonio’s general manager Daryl Johnston recently told the media the following:
Yeah, I think we’re going to get some clarity on that, if not late this week, then early next week. All personnel stuff, the business week will terminate on Tuesday evening, so I would expect some resolution on what the league has decided in time for movement prior to business being closed on Tuesday evening. So if it doesn’t happen late this week, then I would expect it to happen very quickly early next week, per247Sports:
Judging from Johnston’s comments, it sounds like the AAF is still very much in play. While Manziel may get a bigger deal from the XFL, he can leave anytime if he shines and is given an opportunity from an NFL team. Also the AAF pays out three-year deals that for a total of $250,000 in the Alliance.
Lover of the game, and looking forward to Spring football. Reporting on the XFL.

The question is does Johnny Manziel lock himself into a 3 year deal or does his agent ask for a 1 year deal that just covers the remainder of this season. It would put Johnny in a position to explore his options again at the end of April.

I don't see Manziel signing with an AAF team this season. They're already halfway through the season, and he would still have to learn the playbook and everything. I think he'll probably wait until AAF season is over and negotiate with them and XFL.

That’s possible. I know that Daryl Johnston has been openly critical of Logan Woodside. Their team is 3 and 2 and tied for 1st. So they are in position to be a playoff team regardless of their erratic qb play.

There’s no denying that Manziel would bring extra eyeballs to the product. I think this coming week is go time if Manziel and the AAF want to make it work.

This may seem like a longshot for some but I’d monitor the Arizona Cardinals draft in April. If Rosen is traded or if Kyler Murray is drafted. It’s possible that Manziel is reunited with Kliff Kingsbury in Arizona. Erik Burkhardt is Manziel and Murray’s agent. Johnny wouldn’t be getting a starting job but the Cards have cleaned house in their QB room. If there’s a spot in the NFL, where I could see Johnny getting a shot, it’s in Arizona.
