while he has spent a lot of money, its not $250 mil. that was a number he could spend over many years (and perhaps he does if he sticks with it). chances are though he's spent at least $25-$50 mil, and that is a lot. if he folds, he owns all the IP, including app and data

If that's all he wanted, he could have folded after Week 3.

So Dundon was after the tech all along? Strange since the app doesn't seem as "groundbreaking" as the AAF suggests. At least on the surface it doesn't...Andibald wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 5:44 pm Is this what he wanted?

Your Call Football's app seems way more innovative. It also works better and is more fun to use.XFL_FAN wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 6:54 pmSo Dundon was after the tech all along? It will be a classless move if Dundon shuts the aaf down early. They drew us in to watch...... the least they can do is finish what they start. As difficult as it was for the 2001 XFL....... Vince finished what he started. I respect that. Hey Vince......any room for San Antonio and San Diego in the XFL? Those fan bases deserve better than they got. That's ME doing a little AAF bashing. But when you start talking about shuttering the league early.....it makes me feel like an idiot for defending it.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the AAF currently is mired in confusion and uncertainty. And Monday’s comments from majority owner Tom Dundon, who rescued the league from potential implosion early in its inaugural season, have served only to make a confusing situation even more confusing for those operating the league.
Broadcast partners, including CBS, NFL Network, and TNT, are concerned that they’ll suddenly have gaping holes in their programming. CBS, for example, plans to televise a game between Memphis and San Antonio as the lead-in to its final four coverage on Saturday. There’s a chance there will be no game to televise.
Other partners of the AAF are concerned based on Dundon’s comments that the league will go belly up, leaving plenty of people holding the bag, financially and otherwise.

There’s a chance the Hurricanes owner is punching above his weight class, poorly. With Vince McMahon’s XFL coming next fall it’s easy to spread misinformation, but this comment from a source close to the league certainly seems troubling.
The NFL is starting up CBA talks next month, and suddenly the AAF — the league that likely needs a major change in the CBA to allow players to be loaned to its sidelines — could be shut down in a matter of days? Especially with three weeks left in the regular season and the ratings bump that should follow a showcase AAF championship game that comes the night of the final day of the NFL Draft? That seems ... excessive.Ben Kercheval

Just spoke with a source re: Dundon and the future of the AAF. It was ... revealing. Was told that Dundon is "the worst negotiator I've ever seen." More coming later.

What a weirdly written article.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the AAF currently is mired in confusion and uncertainty.
The source is obviously in Ebersol/Polian's camp. The AAF's not mired in confusion, just the former leadership. Dundon knows where things stand or don't stand; he's just not telling Ebersol and Polian. He probably hasn't returned their calls once he saw the paid attendance didn't match the announced attendance.
I'm pretty sure the networks have reruns of MASH or something they can run. The world doesn't end when a baseball game gets rained out. And they're not even paying for the content! Let's not waste our tears on the networks.
(Side thought: opportunity for the Spring League to step up with some content.)
Per the source, the current power structure of the league founded by Charlie Ebersol and Bill Polian doesn’t know what will happen if Dundon chooses to pull any ongoing funding.
I don't get this. If Dundon owns the league, and he chooses not to fund the remainder of the season, that IS the outcome. We don't need to speculate.

Uh oh, another fact denier.
Why Dundon probably isn’t serious: The NFL doesn’t need a developmental league (and everyone knows this)
