UFL Week 8 – Players of the Week – “Fan’s Choice” by UFLBoard.com

Welcome to our UFL Week 8 – Players of the Week – “Fan’s Choice” results. Voting began immediately at the completion of the final game on Sunday. We gathered over 1000 votes before the closing of polls at 5:00PM Eastern on Tuesday May 21, 2024. We thank all who voted!

Fans were asked to nominate any player they deemed worthy of the honor, in three categories: Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams. Winners below are based on the number of votes received for each player.

 

UFL Offensive Player of the Week:
#41 Anthony McFarland, Running Back, San Antonio Brahmas

Anthony McFarland was unstoppable, catching three passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns in the San Antonio Brahmas 20-15 win over the Arlington Renegades.

The fans said:

  • McFarland is back and he is here to prove a point, that is he belongs in the NFL. (Anonymous)
  • Anthony McFarland was a key offensive weapon for the Brahmas in their win over Arlington. (RebelT)

Honorable Mentions

Matthew Colburn, Running Back, Michigan Panthers

  • Colburn had 24 carries for 93 yards and two touchdowns. He was key to the Panthers offense. (Reg)
  • Colburn got used a lot this week and he came through keeping the Panthers relevant with their ground game when Wes Hills was injured. (Anonymous)

Adrian Martinez, Quarterback, Birmingham Stallions

  • Martinez completed 19 of 31 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns, and added 44 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Scoring machine! (Trent)

UFL Defensive Player of the Week:
#32 Qwynnterrio Cole, Safety, St. Louis Battlehawks

St. Louis Battlehawks safety Qwynnterrio Cole was part of a defense that shut down the D.C. Defenders. Cole racked up 7 tackles (5 solo) with one pass breakup and an interception.

DeMarquis Gates, Linebacker, Birmingham Stallions

UFL Special Teams Player of the Week:
#5 Gary Jennings, Kick Returner, Birmingham Stallions

Gary Jennings gave the Stallions instant field position on five kickoff returns where he went a total of 126 yards, averaging 25 yards a carry.

The fans said:

  • Jennings gave the Stallions great field position all game. (PJK)
  • Jennings seemed to be on a mission to break one open for a Stallions TD. (Anonymous)
  • This week Jennings was a special teams key player for Birmingham. (Anonymous)

Honorable Mention

Matt White, Punter, Memphis Showboats

  • Had 4 punts for 205 yards. Gave Memphis consistency on their punts. (Anonymous)
  • Memphis needed good punting to get out of situations. White gave them that option. (S.W.)
