The first injury to a major UFL star was announced on Wednesday. St. Louis Battlehawks WR Jahcour Pearson posted a picture on Instagram that showed him on crutches with the caption, “minor setback for a major comeback.”

As it turns out, Pearson suffered a knee injury that, while not season-ending, will keep him out during the early part of the season. Per UFL Communications, Pearson was placed on injured reserve Wednesday. Battlehawks Head Coach Anthony Becht addressed the injury during his media availability later that day.
“He will be out for at least six weeks with the IR process,” said Becht. “We’ll hope to get him back as soon as possible…(he’s) a very, very talented skillful wide receiver that really brought a lot to the table for us. We’re going to miss him, but he’s going to rehab and he’ll get back with us as soon as we can and when he does, we’ll have a spot for him.”
In acknowledging the loss of Pearson’s expected production, Becht also pointed out the depth the team has at receiver. “The good thing about the receiver room is it’s very strong,” he said. “A lot of competition. We have a lot of speed right now…Stevie Mitchell is having a good camp. Ja’Marcus Bradley, people forget he was one of our top draft picks last year and he didn’t come on board, he went with the NFL through a futures deal so he’s actually back too.
“You talk about a lot of depth at receiver. Jerome Kapp has been really impressive as well. It’s talented and every day, guys are going out there and competing.”
