PFT: StL could have massive crowd for UFL championship

Post by 4th&long »

More PFT love...

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootba ... ks-qualify

>>  If it were the NFL, some would say it’s being scripted. Or, if not, that it should be.Regardless, the best outcome for the UFL in its inaugural season would be to have the Battlehawks earn a berth in the league championship game. Because the league championship game will be played in St. Louis.

They play Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET on Fox. It might be the first UFL game that I specifically make time to watch. <<

Say whaaaaa

Hey you just reposted your hero's admission that he doesn't actually watch (much like I suspect he doesn't during the NFL season), you know where he might acquire things like context and other stuff that might be important (golf clap).

Of course his UFL content this weekend (when he fit it in between his worry about ESPN possibly acquiring NFLN and it basically becoming the MSNBC of pro football--kinda like PFT is now--anyway) was full of veiled slaps towards the league. But hey if that's still high praise enough for you then keep hope alive brutha!

PFT: UFL settles in with solid ratings

Post by 4th&long »

MFer starting to weaken, turning positive on UFL.  Now keep up the articles (aka promotion)

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootba ... id-ratings

>>  The UFL quietly is doing better than its predecessors.

The final game of the weekend attracted the second biggest audience of the seaosn.

The average audience for the weekend was 983,500 per game — an 81-percent bump over the combined average of the XFL and USFL Week 6 audiences from a year ago.

So, yes, it’s working. And it’s laying the foundation to survive longer than most alternate pro football leagues. <<

Media coverage is turning upbeat... its yr 3 for USFL, yr 2 for XFL - the legacy leagues have put their time in, the merger is working.  Keep plugging away - local events, interviews, socials and promotion.  Good stuff.

>>  ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk The officiating transparency the UFL uses is very helpful and it’s something the NFL absolutely needs to adopt now.  4:54 PM · May 11, 2024  <<

PFT: Amari Rodgers suggests he didn’t get “love” from Aaron Rogers

Post by 4th&long »

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootba ... s-a-rookie

>>Via TheJetPress.com, former Packers receiver Amari Rodgers said this in response to the Corley news: “Promise this helps him play better as a Rookie . . . if only I had this type of love coming into GB, but to each his own!”
The Packers cut Amari Rodgers during his second season. He spent time after that with the Texans and Colts.

He currently plays for the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL.Amari Rodgers had only eight catches in 26 games with the Packers. <<

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootba ... r-st-louis

>>The Stallions are still searching for their first UFL loss.

Seven games, seven wins. It wasn’t easy on Saturday, when the 5-1 St. Louis Battlehawks came to town. Trailing 20-17 after three quarters, the Stallions managed a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to emerge with a 30-26 win.Quarterback Adrian Martinez was 21 for 33 for 230 yards and three touchdowns. He added 60 yards rushing on seven attempts.
The game included a 61-yard field goal from Battlehawks kicker Andre Szmyt, cutting the score to 17-14 at halftime.

There were three lead changes in the final quarter, with the game-winning points coming on a one-play drive — a 40-yard touchdown pass by Martinez to Kevin Austin Jr.

Next, the St. Louis Battlehawks will try to secure home-field advantage for the XFL Conference championship game.

The Battlehawks moved to 6-2 on Sunday with a 26-21 win over the D.C. Defenders. More than 32,000 attended the game in St. Louis, proving yet again that it’s a football town <<

PFT: Brahmas hand Stallions their first UFL loss

Post by 4th&long »

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootba ... t-ufl-loss

>>  Wade Phillips still has a little gas left in the tank. The 76-year-old head coach (hey, he’s younger than the two top candidates for president) led the San Antonio Brahmas to an 18-9 win over the Birmingham Stallions on Saturday. It was Birmingham’s first loss in the UFL. It also ended a 15-game Stallions winning streak, dating back to a May 13, 2023 loss to the Houston Gamblers. An interception by linebacker Teez Tabor at the one yard line with 22 seconds left clinched the game; a touchdown and a three-point conversion (from the 10) would have tied the game.  <<

Still covering UFL action... good.
