The UFL should not be a developmental league of the NFL, but at the same time, they also don't need to antagonize the NFL. They can form a partnership with the NFL without being a developmental league of the NFL. Example: both leagues can work on developing Flag Football for the 2028 Olympics.

I found this line from the article interesting.

" San Antonio will serve as a market for the Battlehawks’ training camp, which will begin in the middle of February."
I like this quote:

“I don’t want us to be considered a developmental league or a feeder league. We’re a professional, stand-alone football league. What we’re trying to do is maximize the talent and quality of play in our league.”
This might ruffle Cardinale's feathers a bit, but Oliver Luck had it right when he talked about losing control when you let a big gun like the NFL come in and start dictating your decisions. And given the NFL's past record with minor league investment, it's no guarantee of success, even with the money they're making.

As for the San Antonio thing... I am thinking maybe sloppy reporting. I saw it in an article on the Michigan Panthers from The Detroit News earlier today that claimed Arlington was one of the teams being shut down  .
I don't think GC will have any issue with that. An official minor league doesn't have the upside or fan appeal of an indy league. I think the way DJ says it in this article nails it. Work together where it makes sense, like the CFL and NFL, and do you own thing where it makes sense.
In Fact I've said that being an American CFL is what they can be and that's in a country of 340 million not 40 million. Its like being the Big12 (or maybe AAC) vs the SEC. OL was correct too.

DJ sounds all in, with the two league uncertainty removed the UFL team is ready to shine.
